All About Sarah

Hey everyone, how’s it going?  I’m Sarah, I just graduated from college, and I have some time on my hands while I’m deciding what my next steps in life are going to be, so I decided to start a blog.  I have a business degree but can’t seem to find a good job in my field at this point so for now I am working as an office manager for an accounting firm.  A family friend help me get the job, which I am very thankful for, but do not want to stay in this position for very long.  I’m actually thinking about going to nursing school, but have to work out a lot of details before I dive into that.

I love music…listening, playing, and singing it.  I can play pretty much any instrument I can get my hands on, but guitar is my favorite.  In high school I started a band with some of my guy friends and we actually were pretty popular in the college circuit in our town.  Kinda funny that college kids were asking high school kids to come play at their parties.  Once we all started college, we went our separate ways and the band had to break up.  I wrote a bunch of songs but really didn’t have the time to devote to music with my crazy hectic schedule.  Now that I’m out of school, I have been playing a lot more but don’t really have the desire to go play in front of a bunch of people anymore, so it’s just one of my creative outlets at this point.

Let’s see, what else would someone reading this want to know about me?  I love cats, but am allergic to them, so I wear a lot of crazy cat t-shirts instead.  (You know, the kind with laser beams shooting out of their eyes, cats dressed as tacos, that sort of thing)  I’m sure I get a lot of strange looks but I really don’t pay that much attention to what people think about me.  I took karate lessons growing up and have a fourth degree black belt.  I am also an avid skateboarder.  I usually go to the skatepark at least once every weekend to practice tricks and techniques I’ve found online.  I’ve learned a lot from all the other people who hang out at the skatepark too.  I’m usually one of two girls who are ever there, but that’s cool.  I guess you could say my interests aren’t the same as most girls.

So, you’re probably dying to know why my blog is called Gloomy Roomies.  (Even if you’re not, I’m going to tell you) I’ve basically been cursed in the living arrangement department.  When I started college, I just did the random matching thing for a roommate because I figured I could get along with anyone.  After that first year, I tried living with a friend I thought I knew pretty well.  I was wrong.  Basically, every roommate I’ve ever had (even the one I live with now) has been either off their rocker, way too weird (which says a lot because I’m not the most normal person in the world), or just plain creepy.  I guess I need to work on my people reading skills before I sign another year long lease with someone.  Needless to say, I have some pretty great stories (at least my friends and family tell me they’re great) so I’d like to share them with whoever would like to read them.

I’ll be changing everyone’s names in my blog posts just in case any of my ex-roomies (or current roomie, for that matter) come across my blog.

Hope you enjoy!
